The Ministry of Health has suspended the Principal of the College of Nursing Nkanchina, Fredrick Anaba, following allegations of irregular student admissions and the introduction of academic programmes without official approval.
The suspension, which takes immediate effect, is part of an administrative process to allow authorities to investigate claims that the school admitted more students than the approved quota and rolled out new programmes without clearance from the ministry.
In a statement issued by the ministry’s Public Relations Unit on Thursday, 12 March 2026, the ministry disclosed that the development follows earlier concerns raised about the institution’s 2025/2026 admission process. According to the ministry, a formal query was sent to the principal on 19 February 2026 seeking explanations regarding the admissions.
After reviewing the response submitted by Mr Anaba, the ministry concluded that the matter required a deeper probe to establish the full circumstances surrounding the alleged breaches.
As part of the interim measures, Mr Anaba has been directed to relinquish control of the institution’s administration while investigations are carried out.
The management responsibilities of the college have therefore been transferred to the Acting Vice Principal to ensure the continued operation of the school without disruption.
Authorities at the Ministry of Health stressed that health training institutions are required to strictly adhere to approved admission quotas and authorised academic programmes, warning that any breach of the regulations will attract sanctions.
The ministry says further information will be made public once the administrative investigation is completed.
