  • Gbintiri Community Demonstrates to Demand Accountability and Targeted Investment from Regional Authorities

Residents of Gbintiri in the North East Region staged a protest today Friday April 10, 2026, demanding greater transparency and accountability from regional leadership over recent development decisions.

The demonstration, which took place in the streets of Gbintiri, was organized to express frustration over the alleged exclusion of their community from key economic projects and to call for urgent targeted investments in infrastructure, social services, and employment opportunities.

Hundreds of community members mobilized, marching through the town with placards demanding justice and inclusive development. The protesters called on the Regional Minister and the East Mamprusi Municipal Chief Executive to publicly account for the decision-making process surrounding the siting of the new 24-hour economy markets and other regional projects.

The people of Gbintiri want transparency. We are here to hold our leaders accountable and to ensure our voices are heard, said a community leader during the demonstration.

Our community has been marginalized for too long, and we demand fair treatment and development that benefits us all.

Following the protest, Mr. Dalabri Paull Laali who read the press statement urged authorities to provide detailed explanations of their development decisions, including the criteria and consultations involved.

They emphasized the need for deliberate and targeted investments within Gbintiri, including infrastructure improvements, employment programs, and social services, to foster sustainable growth.

Gbintiri is a vital economic hub, operating around the clock as a trading center. Our community deserves equitable development that reflects our contributions and strategic importance, he stated.

The demonstration underscores a broader call for inclusive governance in the region, highlighting concerns over marginalization and the need for equitable resource allocation. The community warned that continued neglect could undermine social cohesion and regional stability.

They have given a one-week deadline for authorities to respond and address their grievances. Failure to do so, they warned, would lead to further lawful actions to advocate for their rights.

While maintaining a peaceful stance, Gbintiri residents reiterated their commitment to peace and stability, emphasizing that their demands are rooted in the pursuit of justice and equitable development. They remain hopeful that the regional leadership will take swift and concrete steps to address their concerns.

As the region awaits official responses, the demonstration has brought renewed attention to the importance of transparency, accountability, and targeted investment in marginalized communities for regional progress.
