The Managing Director of Tema Oil Refinery, Lawyer Edmond Kombat, recently paid a courtesy visit to the Bunkpurugu Constituency to express his gratitude to the constituents for their overwhelming support during the 2024 general elections.
The visit drew a large crowd of party supporters, chiefs, elders, and residents, marking a historic milestone for the North East Region particularly for Bunkpurugu and the wider Bimoba Land since Lawyer Kombat’s appointment as the first person from the area to hold such a prominent national position.

In his address to the gathering, Lawyer Kombat sincerely thanked the people of Bunkpurugu for their unwavering support throughout the electoral process, which resulted in victories for both the presidential and parliamentary candidates.
He also extended special appreciation to John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for trusting him with the appointment, despite his humble beginnings in rural communities within the North East Region.
This appointment shows that leadership opportunities are accessible to everyone, regardless of where you come from, Lawyer Kombat remarked. I am grateful to President Mahama and the NDC for this opportunity. They looked beyond my background and focused on my competence and dedication to service.
He urged the constituents to remain united and uphold peace, integrity, and cooperation to foster development within the constituency. He called on residents to rally behind their Member of Parliament, Hon. Dr. Abed Lamangin Bandim, to accelerate progress.
We must stay united, preserve peace, and listen to our MP. Development flourishes when we work together as one people, he emphasized.
Lawyer Kombat also pledged to support development initiatives alongside the MP, highlighting key priorities such as improving educational infrastructure especially addressing schools currently operating under trees and rehabilitating major roads like the Bunkpurugu–Nakpanduri and Nakpanduri–Nalerigu roads.

Residents welcomed the visit, describing it as a source of pride and renewed hope for accelerated development across the constituency and the North East Region.
The event concluded with calls for continued unity and collective efforts toward development, with residents reaffirming their support for leadership and government initiatives aimed at improving their livelihoods.
