A new survey commissioned by Gariba Consult suggests a highly competitive contest is shaping up in the Northern Region NDC regional executive elections, with large numbers of constituency executives still undecided in several key races.

Conducted from April 20 to April 23, 2026 across all 18 constituencies in the Northern Region, the survey engaged 100 constituency executives, made up of 85 men and 15 women. Of those approached, 89 responded while 11 declined to participate.

The findings show that indecision remains a major feature of the race, with undecided support ranging from 29.2 percent to 48.3 percent in four of the five positions surveyed. Analysts say this leaves room for significant shifts in the final outcome as campaigning intensifies ahead of the elections.

In the Regional Chairman race, undecided executives accounted for 34.8 percent of responses. Director Ariski led the field with 27.0 percent, followed by Chairman Gbewaa with 24.7 percent and King Yellow Man with 13.5 percent.

The Regional Secretary contest appears slightly clearer, with Baba Zhei leading on 46.1 percent. However, 29.2 percent of respondents remain undecided, while Chief Agitator polled 20.2 percent and Dr. Wumbei trailed with 4.5 percent.

For Regional Organiser, Karim, the former Youth Organiser, emerged ahead with 43.8 percent support. He was followed by 31.5 percent undecided and Zacious with 24.7 percent. During the survey, a new entrant, Red Chirfobia, an aide to Deputy Roads Minister Alhassan Suhuyini, was mentioned by some respondents but did not attract significant support.

The Youth Organiser race recorded the highest level of uncertainty, with 48.3 percent of executives undecided. Karim again featured prominently with 25.8 percent, while Kanayo secured 18.0 percent and Believer 7.9 percent.

The Women’s Organiser race, however, produced the clearest result in the survey. Mahama Charity dominated with 70.8 percent support, leaving 29.2 percent undecided.

Gariba Consult says the findings reflect a fiercely contested internal political environment, with late campaigning and alliance-building likely to play a decisive role. The survey notes that the large undecided bloc across most positions could still reshape the race before election day.
