Residents of Ada have been left in shock following the reported death of a woman who allegedly consumed large quantities of sobolo in place of water.
According to accounts within the community, the deceased is said to have strongly believed that sobolo symbolised the blood of Jesus, a conviction that reportedly influenced her daily consumption habits.
Acting on this belief, she is said to have completely stopped drinking water, relying instead on the popular local beverage for hydration over an extended period.
Sources indicate that her health gradually deteriorated, prompting her to seek medical attention at a health facility. Medical personnel reportedly detected unusually high levels of substances associated with the drink in her system.
Despite efforts to stabilise her condition, she is said to have died shortly after the diagnosis.
The incident has sparked concern among residents, with many raising questions about the risks associated with extreme dietary practices influenced by personal beliefs.
Health experts continue to caution against excessive intake of any single beverage and emphasise that water remains essential for proper body function and survival.
