The Member of Parliament for Karaga, Hon. Mohammed Amin Adam, has officially commissioned a new six-unit story classroom block at Markazia Islamic Basic School in Tamale. The fully furnished, one-storey facility was handed over to the school community during a formal ceremony attended by local leaders, community members, school officials, and stakeholders.

Representing the MP at the event, Mr. Halim Haruna explained that Hon. Adam, a proud alumnus of the school, was motivated to give back after observing the deteriorated state of the school’s infrastructure.

Hon. Adam attended this school for his basic education, where he studied the Quran.

Seeing the condition of the school’s buildings, he decided to intervene by constructing this six-unit classroom block,” Mr. Haruna stated. He assured that the MP’s support for the school would continue in the future.

The Headteacher of Markazia Islamic Basic School, Madam Abiba Asoma, expressed gratitude for the new facility.

We sincerely appreciate this beautiful building. On behalf of the staff and pupils, we pledge to maintain it and to continue providing quality education. We are committed to nurturing our students to become responsible and capable future leaders, she said.

Madam Asoma also lauded the MP’s dedication to advancing education in the community.

Mr. Abdul Halim Haruna, who led the project on behalf of the MP, announced that he would personally provide additional support to the school in the form of computers, aimed at enhancing Information Technology (IT) education and further enriching the learning environment.

Imams, opinion leaders, and community members present at the ceremony praised Hon. Adam for his commitment to community development and education. They offered prayers for his continued success and expressed appreciation for his efforts in giving back to his alma mater.

Madam Eleanor Abanga, the School Improvement and Support Officer, highlighted the significant positive impact of the new facility.

This new building will have an unimaginable effect on our students, she remarked.

She urged staff and students to take good care of the infrastructure and assured that school management remains committed to seeking further improvements.

We are never satisfied; we wish the entire school could look like the one handed over today, she added.

The new infrastructure comprises the six-unit classroom block, a computer lab, five toilet facilities, and office for the headteacher. The event was attended by community leaders, religious leaders, and stakeholders who acknowledged and appreciated Hon. Adam’s dedication to education and community development.
