The Member of Parliament for Tamale Central, Seidu Mahama Alidu, has reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive education following the commissioning of a special facility for visually impaired pupils at the Tamale Prison School.

The MP made the pledge when he attended a ceremony organized to officially inaugurate the newly established facility, aimed at improving learning conditions for visually impaired students.

Addressing attendees, Prof. Alidu commended CAMFED Ghana for spearheading the initiative, describing it as a significant step toward reducing educational inequalities among students with disabilities.

He noted that the intervention would help bridge the gap between visually impaired pupils and their peers in mainstream education. He further assured stakeholders of his readiness to support the expansion of such interventions.

According to him, he would engage local authorities and liaise with the Minister of Education to secure a more befitting and permanent structure for the pupils. Prof. Alidu emphasized that his support would not be limited to basic education but would extend to the tertiary level, ensuring that visually impaired students are given equal opportunities to pursue higher education.

The commissioning of the facility marks a major milestone in efforts to promote inclusive education in the Tamale Metropolis, with stakeholders expressing optimism that the intervention will significantly enhance academic outcomes for visually impaired learners.
